Artificial Insemination: A Simple and Natural Treatment

Artificial insemination is one of the simplest treatments that closely resembles natural reproduction. This procedure involves the introduction, via a catheter, of previously selected sperm into the patient’s uterus, facilitating egg fertilization. It is carried out after stimulating the ovary with a mild dose of medication, tailored to the optimal moment of ovulation.

To ensure the success of the procedure, the patient’s cycle is monitored, including transvaginal ultrasound checks as needed.

Sperm Selection for Insemination

The selection of sperm for insemination is a crucial process carried out by our embryologists. Once the exact day of ovulation is determined, the couple is scheduled to provide a semen sample. If donor sperm is used, we coordinate with the laboratory to have the selected sample available.

Subsequently, in our assisted reproduction laboratory, we evaluate the quality, viability, and morphology of the sperm, selecting the most optimal for the procedure using specialized techniques.

Success Rates of Artificial Insemination

Artificial insemination provides results like natural reproduction. In UR Crea units, the cumulative pregnancy rate after three cycles is 50%.

It is important to note that success rates may vary depending on factors such as the patient’s age and any diagnosed conditions affecting their reproductive health.
